The Winnipesaukee Playhouse will be hosting an informational meeting on Monday, August 30 to discuss their Fall schedule. This will include after school classes for kids and teens, evening classes for adults, community and youth productions and more.

Beginning on September 13, classes will resume with the company’s Artistic Director, Neil Pankhurst, and Managing Director, Johanna Halperin, each offering a selection of classes for ages 8-10, 11-14, 15-18 and adults. Pankhurst will also be directing two productions which will have auditions open to the entire community: Speed-the-Plow by David Mamet which is open to adults and The Crucible which will be cast true-to-age using anyone from early-teens through adult. Executive Director Bryan Halperin will also be directing You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, a musical which will be open to area 8-12 year olds.

‘We feel strongly that the playhouse will become a resource for the entire community, both for people who want to see theatre and also those who want to get involved onstage and behind-the-scenes," Halperin said. "We’d like anyone who wants to get involved in any capacity to come find out more on the 30th."

In addition to community events, the playhouse will also continue to program professional productions. The Fabulous Baker Sisters, 82 and 77 year old sisters who were a sell-out hit this summer, will be returning on October 23.

"After the Baker Sisters performed in July we were inundated with requests to bring them back, both from people who had been at the show and wanted to see them again and from people whose friends had seen them and were disappointed that they missed out," observed Lesley Pankhurst, Marketing Director. "Tickets are already on sale and selling quickly."

Also in the pipeline according to Pankhurst is a return performance from The Sisters’ Las Vegas Revue, a nun parody duo, who are developing a Christmas show specifically for the Winni Playhouse.

The entire community is invited to the 7 p.m. meeting on August 30. For more information or questions call 366-7377 or visit the Winnipesaukee Playhouse’s website, www.winniplayhouse.com.
