Katherine Smith, of Tilton, New Hampshire, a student at Lakes Region Community College, has been named as the 2009 Ronald F. Borelli Legacy Scholarship recipient. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has earned a high GPA and demonstrates a strong commitment to his or her career path. The applicants for the Borelli Scholarship may be attending any of the seven Community Colleges System of New Hampshire colleges.
Smith is in the degree nursing program at the Laconia college, a two year program in which she can earn an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing. Successful completion of the program qualifies students to take the RN Licensure Exam. Upon graduation, she plans to continue her education.
The Foundation’s Legacy Scholarship Program is named after the late Ron Borelli. Mr. Borelli had served on the Board of Trustees of Community College System of New Hampshire and served as chairman of the Community Colleges of New Hampshire Foundation, where he founded the legacy scholarship program.
