LACONIA — Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center, a Lakes Region nonprofit committed to environmental education, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the month of July.

This exciting program has been designed to support local nonprofits like Prescott Farm. For every blue Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag with the good karma messaging purchased at the Meredith Hannaford Supermarket, Prescott Farm will receive a $1 donation in order to help fulfill its mission:

Through preservation and education, Prescott Farm celebrates the interconnections between our community and the natural systems which sustain us all.

"So many of the programs offered by Prescott Farm are about connecting people to the natural environment around them. Those connections can inform a lifetime of decisions which impact the environment and the health of our communities. The Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program is a great example of a simple and affordable lifestyle choice that can have a real impact on the environment by reducing the amount of waste that goes into landfills. I'm thrilled that Prescott Farm has been selected as a beneficiary of the program," said Prescott Farm Executive Director, Jude Hamel.

Prescott Farm has a goal of raising $1,000 during July as a beneficiary of the program, which is equivalent to 1,000 bags bought in support of the cause. Prescott Farm plans to use the projected funds to provide scholarship support to low-income children attending Fledglings, its nature-based preschool program.
