PLYMOUTH — Plymouth State University will hold its Homecoming and Family Celebration the weekend of Sept. 26-28.

Check-in will be Friday, Sept. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hartman Union Building, and Saturday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ice Arena and Savage Welcome Center on Holderness Road.

Activities include sports events, magician Joel Meyers, poetry and music from the contemplative to the comedic entitled Living in the Moment with PSU faculty Elizabeth Daily and Allan DiBiase, the annual Foley 5k footrace, an alumni golf tournament at Owl's Nest Resort & Golf Club, a harvest festival, a cornhole tournament and an evening of entertainment at the Silver Center with comedian Tig Notaro.

Friday evening's Connections dinner, hosted by university President Sarah Jane Steen, will welcome donors, student scholarship award recipients and invited family members at the annual event honoring philanthropy and achievement.

Recognition Awards will be presented to eight alumni at 11 a.m. Saturday during a Celebrating Excellence brunch at the Ice Arena and Savage Welcome Center.

The Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to Jim Goss of the class of 1968, and Gary Rabinovitz of the Class of 84.

Goss, of Concord, is executive director, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Department of Defense. Rabinovitz, of Canton, Mass., is RP/AM lab manager, Reebok International.

Distinguished Alumni Service Awards will be presented to Gene Stearns (Class of 1962) and Roberta Wallace Stearns (Class of 1961) of Northwood. Both are retired owners and educators of Casco Bay College in Portland, Maine.

Faculty/Staff Award of Excellence award will be presented to Craig Russell (Class of 2005) of Plymouth, head coach of PSU men's ice hockey team.

Tim Carrignan, Class of 2004, of Cheverly, Md., will receive the Recent Alumni Award of Excellence. Carrignan is a cultural sector professional in Washington, D.C.

The Ut Prosim Award will be presented to Bill Andrews (Class of 1962) of Milford, a retired sales and marketing manager, Johnson Precision Inc.; and Sharon (Langlois) Andrews (Class of 1962) of Milford, retired preschool teacher, Moppets Co-op Nursery School.
