LACONIA — With night falling later as summer approaches, and in an effort to accommodate both local residents as well as vacationers, Pitman's Freight Room in Laconia, will be starting its upcoming comedy shows at 9 p.m., which will be in effect for the May, June, July and August comedy nights.
With the 9 p.m. start, it is hoped people will be able to take full advantage of the daylight hours and still be able to come out and enjoy high level stand up comedy for the next four months prior to returning to the regular 8 p.m. start in Sept.
"We had some people tell us they liked the 8 p.m. start but more wanted us to start later once the weather changed and it was staying light up until and after eight o'clock," said Dick Mitchell the owner of Pitman's. "We want to keep everyone happy, but we want to see how this works out.
"Last year we started the shows at 8, but it was still light out and the numbers were down. So we're trying something different. It's only our second summer doing this and we will have some numbers to compare once summer is over."
The April Comedy Night at Pitman's, which was the New York/Boston Comedy Clash starring Corey Rodrigues and Steve Bjork, drew rave reviews from the crowd of 170 that was in attendance. The May 17 comedy night event, which will begin at 9 p.m. is the LA/Boston Connection starring Lou Ramey and Joey Carroll as the main performers.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door the night of the event. For reservations email Pitman's comedy at msmith789@comcast.net , info@pitmansfreightroom.com; or call Pitman's at 603-527-0043.
