George Jewell was installed as president of Meredith Historical Society its annual Christmas luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Hart's Turkey Farm Restaurant.
In addition to approval of the society budget for 2007, new officers and directors were elected: Jewell, president; Nancy Jewell, vice president of preservation; Virginia Hatch, recording secretary; Esther Wyatt, corresponding secretary; Janis Roberts, treasurer; Dorothy Forsberg, assistant treasurer; and Bill Pond, Dawn Dever, John Robinson, Pauline Fournier, and Jan Phillips, directors, along with Esther and Harold Wyatt, historians; and Mary Caverly, in-house genealogist.
Thanks were expressed to Anne Jollimore, outgoing president, and Bart Burnell, outgoing director and clerk of the board. Door prizes were awarded to several members. Jollimore expressed her gratitude to the board and the membership for their help and support during her three-year administration.
The next board meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Main Street Museum.
The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at the First Congregational Church Parish Hall on Highland Street in Meredith, at noon. Members are asked to bring a dish to share for this pot-luck luncheon.
