TILTON — Beginning Sunday, November 10, local musicians can enjoy sharing their music with a true listening audience at the Black Swan Inn.

This intimate venue is welcoming, visually intriguing and new owners John and Trish Basiliere have been offering creative events since the purchase of the inn in March. Meg Josalen has been looking for such a venue to host an open mic for some time.

She shares, "Many times musicians get lost in the background of busy bars and this venue provides an opportunity for local talent to be heard. I am sure there are listeners who will appreciate a place to go to where local talent is highlighted, without the distractions of TV's and talking. This will be a great way to enjoy a Sunday evening."

The open mic will be held every other Sunday from 6-9 p.m. with a featured artist performing from 7-7:30 p.m. Local musician Don Bartenstein will be the first feature with other performers already booked for the rest of the year.

Musicians sign up to play at the door, typically 3 songs each. Original music is preferred, but not required. There is a cover of $5 for the evening, which includes coffee/tea and dessert.

People can join ' Open Mic at the Black Swan Inn' page on facebook to stay apprised of featured performers, see photos of the evening or to just support local music.
