LACONIA — The Laconia Human Relations Committee, in cooperation with the Laconia Public Library, will show the film, The Eagle Huntress, on Monday, April 3 at 6:15 p.m. This is another in the International Film Series shown monthly from September through June at the Library.
Aisholpan, a 13-year-old nomadic Mongolian girl ,is encouraged by her father to learn the skills of eagle hunting. If she works hard at it she would become the first female eagle hunter in twelve generations of her Kazakh family. This is a true story, caught on camera as it happened. Using breathtaking aerial cinematography and intimate close up footage, the film captures her personal journey. This spellbinding story follows Aisholpan as she strived to do something girls simply didn't do. She is coming of age at a time when modernity is reaching into her culture. This is a 2016 film.
