Meredith filmmakers Peter and Sarah Shanelaris brought their movie production to Southern New Hampshire University’s Laconia Center during the weekend.
Peter Shanelaris filmed a scene of the couple’s movie, “The Present,” in a classroom at the Laconia Center this past Saturday. The Shanelarises are filming their movie locally in the Meredith/Gilford/Laconia area; the cast and crew are made up of New Hampshire residents.
“The Present,” a Purple Crayon production, stars actor Petros Tsanlaredes in the lead role of David Nazzereth. Following the loss of his wife and unborn child during a mugging, Nazzereth creates a computer program that generates a time field so he can travel back in time to save his family. However, the director of his project fears that Nazzereth won’t be driven to ever invent the time field generator if he is successful with his journey into the past. Harold Indie is the writer, producer and director of the movie, described as “an urban Christmas fairy tale.”
Executive Producer Sarah Shanelaris formerly was an executive assistant at Moonlight Films in London, where she worked on such films as “Paper House” and “A World Apart” with Barbara Hershey. She created Purple Crayon Productions after moving to New Hampshire; “The Present” will be the production company’s debut film. Additional information about the movie is available online at www.thepresent2004.com.
