Those glamorous summer evenings of soft melody and dance, so popular in decades past, return to Laconia when East Bay Jazz Company performs as part of the Riverside Concert Series at Rotary Riverside Park at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow evening.
Sponsored by the Laconia Putnam Fund, the Riverside Concert Series is organized by the Belknap Mill Society as a community project, with support from the Laconia Main Street Program and the City of Laconia. The concerts are free and open to the public
The East Bay Jazz Company is a 14-member band from the Upper Valley, led by bassist and vocalist Gerry Grimo, a baby boomer who has always been captivated by the sounds of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Grimo formed the East Bay Jazz Ensemble in 1988 with the goal of bringing back the elegant era of the big band classics.
Other sponsors of this concert series are Distinctive Kitchens, Laconia Rotary Club, the Citizen and WLNH. In case of rain, the concert will be cancelled. For details call the Belknap Mill at (603) 524-8813.
