Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m., will bring a screening of "Disappearances" at the Gilmanton Academy in Gilmanton Corners. The event is sponsored by the Gilmanton Year-Round Library Association.
Based on a book by Howard Frank Mosher and adapted by Vermont film-maker Jay Craven, "Disappearances" unfolds in Vermont’s Kingdom County in 1932 and tells a spellbinding tale of frontier spirit with a strong connection to the landscape. Craven explores matters of character, family and fate with wise restraint. The film stars Kris Kristofferson, Genevieve Bujold, Gary Farmer and Luis Guzman.
Jay Craven, award winning writer and director, will introduce the film. Following the screening he will lead a post-screening discussion.
For the movie enthusiast, a dinner with the director is planned prior to the showing; seating is limited and reservations are required.
Tickets are $10 at the door. Dinner is included in cost of the ticket. For information and to reserve a seat at dinner, contact Bill Foster at fosbill@metrocast.net or call 267-6874. (Film is rated PG13.)
