ALTON — The Alton Historical Society will kick off the 2012 season with "Some Underwater History Of Lake Winnipesaukee" presented by Hans Hug Jr. of Exeter on April 24 at 7 p.m. at the Gilman Library.
Hug has been an avid diver for 23 years throughout New England and had dived extensively in Winnipesaukee, bringing side scan sonar with him. He has located wrecks not previously known, captured images, photographed, and video taped a number of sites.
His presentation will cover some history of the lake plus a narration of things he has found. Artifacts will be displayed and an underwater video will be shown of his wreck sites.
The historicak society's executive board is looking for volunteers to help clean the Museum. Call Nancy Merrill at 875-5604.
