GILFORD — The Gilford Public Library has begun a new program aimed at assisting all kinds of writers.
Local author Abi Maxwell will be the resource for this program called Check-Out-An-Expert.
Maxwell is the author of "Lake People," a novel published in 2013. She holds two master's degrees in writing and has taught writing at the college level. She has also hosted writing workshops here at the library in the past and is passionate about writing regularly. Those who want help honing their writing skills or fine-tuning a piece of work are encouraged to sign up for a session with Maxwell.
She will be available for writing help on Tuesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. for half-hour blocks. Blocks will be non-renewable and are open to adults, and teens in Grades 5 and up. Those wanting to participate can bring any type of writing -- schoolwork, resumes, fiction, poetry, or family histories -- and Maxwell will work with those writers one-on-one to revise work and improve writing skills. She is also available for any stage of the writing process, from initial brainstorming to an actual draft.
This program is open to all Gilford Public Library cardholders. Those wanting more information can contact the Gilford Public Library at abi@gilfordlibrary.org or (603) 524-6042.
