ALTON — The Alton Historical Society will kick off the 2014 season on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. on the lower level of the Gilman Library with a presentation by Alton resident, Robert E. Lee, Special Agent FBI/Retired. He will talk about his 40 years working for the government.
Bob was born and raised in Everett, MA. After graduating from Christopher Columbus High School in Boston, he entered Massachusetts Maritime Academy, graduating in 1959. He served in the U.S.Naval Reserve attaining the rank of Lt(JG) and served as a deck officer aboard several merchant vessels and in the Maritime Insurance and Steamship Operation business in the New York area.
In 1963 he entered on duty with the FBI as a Special Agent and was assigned to offices in Missouri, Texas, New York City and Montgomery, Alabama.
Following retirement in 1992, he worked for the Alabama Attorney General and in private industry in Montgomery, Ala.
The Alton Historical Society Programs are free, open to the public and on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Library. Refreshments are served and the Museum, located on the lower level of the Library, will be open before and after the program.
