N.H. Humane Society will hold its first summer adopt-a-thon on Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2, at its facility on Meredith Center Road, Laconia.
With the fourth highest adoption statistics of all shelters in the New England Region, this no-kill shelter boasts a 90 percent adoption rate for 2006. Come in Friday or Saturday and take home a dog or cat the same day, as long as you bring the correct paperwork: rabies certificates on currently owned pets, proof of home ownership, or lease agreement stating “pets okay” if renting.
Seventy-six cats currently need homes, according to feline department supervisor, Tammy O’Neil. "The adopt-a-thon is often the time that a large number finally get picked by the public. Cats like Greta and Bonnie, older cats that are often overlooked, have a much better chance of adoption during this two day event.”
N.H. Humane Society offers heartworm and flea prevention products and low-cost micro chipping for adopted animals.
