TWC Wavemakers compete at NHSA Championships

LACONIA — The TWC Wavemakers Swim Team recently wrapped up its 39th season at the New Hampshire Swim Association Championship held in Salem last month. More than 30 swimmers participated in the Wavemakers' winter season.

The Wavemakers sent seven girls: Kendall Perdue, Jolie Ruggles, Isla Hogan, Elise Graton, Stella Babine, Ellen Valovanie and Jennah Valovanie; and eight boys, Kellan Ruggles, Kain Perdue, Chael Smithson, Ben Valles, Gavin Fallon, Hayden Hebron, Aidan Malek and Emmett Wilson.

There were many excellent swims and personal bests achieved at this state-wide completion. Five Wavemakers finished in the top 10.

Kendall Perdue swam in the 8 and under age group finishing 7th in the 50 freestyle, 9th in the 25 freestyle and 10th in the 25 backstroke.

In the 9 and 10 age groups — Jolie Ruggles placed 9th in the 100 individual medley and 10th in the 100 free; Kain Perdue finished 3rd in the 50 butterfly, 8th in the 50 backstroke and 10th in the 50 breaststroke; while Chael Smithson placed 3rd in the 50 breaststroke, 4th in the 50 backstroke, and 10th in the 100 freestyle.

Emmett Wilson finished 6th in the 100 breaststroke and 7th in the 200 freestyle in the 17 and 18 age group.

Next up for the Wavemakers will be their annual banquet to celebrate the season and accomplishments. Of special note is that the Wavemakers collected $3,000 for two charities. They raised $1,500 for the Make A Wish Foundation and another $1,500 for the New Hampshire Humane Society by their annual fundraiser "A One Hour Swim" where swimmers received a pledge for each lap swum in a one hour’s time.

The Wavemakers swim at The Wellness Complex in Laconia. They will hold a summer clinic for new swimmers at the end of May before kicking off the summer swim season.
