TILTON — The Tilton Historical Society will present a History and Hauntings Tour at Park Cemetery on West Main St. in Tilton on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. The tour will highlight the history of the cemetery and some of the notable people who once walked the streets of Tilton and Northfield.Â
It will also feature an inside glimpse of the Winter Tomb, a building where remains of those who passed during the winter months were temporarily placed until the spring thaw of the ground.
Special appearances will be by resident ghosts, such as librarian Mary Osgood, the town’s namesake Charles Tilton and his wife Genieve. One time owners of the building where Tilton House of Pizza is today, George and Mary Lord, will also haunt the grounds that day.
Parking will not be allowed within the cemetery itself, but the Doric Lodge next door at 410 W. Main St., is providing parking at the back of their building, and there will also be space at the High School parking lot across the street.
The tour will start promptly at 2 p.m.
