BELMONT — Belmont Elementary School will host Theo Martey and the Akwaaba Ensemble during the week of June 6-June 10. This group teaches and performs African drumming, dancing, and music based out of Ghana. In 2019, Theo won the Governor’s Arts Award for Art Education.

When Theo Martey and the Akwaaba Ensemble come to Belmont Elementary School, they will be working with all students, K-4 to bring them understanding of a very different culture.

There will be a culminating event, where Belmont Elementary's 3rd and 4th graders will be performing for the community at Belmont Middle School, based on what they learned from teaching artist,Theo Martey. This performance will be held on Friday, June 10.
