LACONIA — WinnAero, the non-profit STEM education group, will host its Spring 2022 Teacher Workshop Schedule. All workshops are one-day and taught by NH certified science/technology/engineering professional faculty. The workshops will be conducted at either the Laconia Airport or at Rogue Space Systems in downtown Laconia. Rogue Space Systems recently partnered with WinnAero as a community outreach program.

The schedule of workshops is as follows:

A1 — Introduction to Aviation, Tuesday, March 15

A2 — Aircraft Systems and Airports, Wednesday, March 30

A3 — Air Environment and Meteorology, Thursday, April 14

S1 — Rockets, Saturday, March 19

S2 — The Space Environment, Saturday, April 2

S3 — Spacecraft, Saturday, April 16

These workshops are taught using the nationally-recognized Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education curricula modules. The Registration fee includes all workshop materials, lunch and snacks. Workshop participants may qualify for Professional Development credit; see your SAU guidelines for applicability.

The workshops are under the leadership of Dan Caron of Gilford High School. Caron, a technology and engineering teacher, is also WinnAero’s director of educational programs. “These workshops can help any classroom science or technology teacher present STEM subjects using hands-on aviation and aerospace activities,” Caron stated. He added that “Teaching using aviation and space activities is what I refer to as stealth teaching... the activities are so much fun and your students get so excited by the subject and presentation, they don’t realize they’re learning.”

Full details about times, locations, registration and course descriptions are available at the WinnAero website: www.winnaero.org. Interested parties may contact Caron with any questions at dan.caron@winnaero.org.
