LACONIA — Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative, the resident theatre company of the Colonial Theatre in Laconia is proud to announce a new opportunity for community members interested in improv comedy to participate in an eight-week Improv Workshop.
Beginning on April 1, instructor Amanda Wagner, who has been seen in several Powerhouse productions including as Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet” and Abigail Williams in “The Crucible,” will use the skills she acquired in classes with the renowned Groundlings and Second City comedy troupes to create a welcoming and fun experience for participants.
Wagner said, “Improvisation is a fantastic way to build skills as an actor and to build confidence overall. This workshop will be a great chance to step outside of your comfort zone in a welcoming and fun-loving environment. Worried you won’t be any good? There are literally no wrong answers, it’s improv after all.”
The course will be held on Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Woodside Building of the Taylor Community on Union Avenue in Laconia. Over the eight-week course participants will be exposed to various long and short form improv techniques and exercises with an ending showcase for family and friends on May 27 (there is no class April 29).
