Join The Friends of the Moultonborough Library for the first Spring Literature Discussion.

This debut novel, “The Yellow Birds,” by Iraq War veteran David Powers, follows Privates Bartle and Murphy as they fight in a war that few Americans know or care about. The focus of the novel is on Bartle’s lonely homecoming and the emotional journey that follows. The author has a strong message about this “1% war.”

The discussion will be at the Moultonborough Library on Thursday, April 25th at 10:30 a.m. Leading the discussion is Dr. Suzanne Brown, a retired Dartmouth Professor with a deep background in war and literature. Brown currently leads literature discussions at the Vermont VA.

“The Yellow Bird” was a finalist for the 2012 National Book Award. It was awarded the 2013 Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award. Only 226 pages, the novel moves along quickly. It is highly readable and revelatory. Copies of the novel are available at the Moultonborough Library, 4 Holland St. 603-476-8895. Register online at library@moultonboroughlibrary.org.
