WOLFEBORO — Makers Mill, a nonprofit community makerspace and vocation hub dedicated to fostering artistic expression and skill development, will hold two metalsmithing classes on Saturday, Oct. 14, and Sunday, Oct. 15. The  workshops offer participants the opportunity to learn from skilled artisans and create pieces of jewelry.

The class titled Sterling Spinner Ring will be held Oct. 14, at 12:30 p.m., with instructor Deborah Ryan.

Spinners, also called fidget rings, are all the rage, and now you can make your very own sterling silver spinner ring in this hands-on class. You'll start by crafting a wide band ring, texturing it and adding a beautiful patina. Then, you'll create the spinners and assemble your unique piece, finishing it with a dazzling polish. While some soldering experience is helpful, it's not required, making this class accessible to all skill levels. Customize your ring with various metal choices for the spinners, like the stunning rose gold-filled twist shown in the example.

Ryan, a passionate metalsmith since 2005, will guide you through the process. Her expertise and love for crafting Celtic and nature-inspired jewelry shine through in her work. As an active member and instructor at Makers Mill, she's excited to share her knowledge with the artistic community.

Beginners Gemstone Bracelet will be held on Oct. 15, at 1 p.m., with instructor Cheryl Barnes.

Craft a gemstone bracelet using copper wire and semiprecious stones. Barnes, a wire jewelry expert with 20 years of experience, will lead you through each step, making the design look more advanced than the actual skills required. Learn wire wrapping techniques, create your own hook and eye clasp and gain insights into wire types, gauges, hardness and gemstone care.

Barnes' meticulous teaching approach includes detailed instructions, photos and hands-on demonstrations, ensuring every student leaves with a sense of accomplishment. Join her to create a masterpiece you'll treasure.

Both classes will take place at the Makers Mill facility, at 23 Bay St. For information on fees or registration, visit makersmill.org, call 603-569-1500 or email info@makersmill.org.
