MEREDITH — The Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra will host their spring concert “Nature Splendor” on Saturday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at Inter-Lakes High School. The March program features “March Rakoczy” by Berliotz, Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun," “Guitar Concerto No 1 in D major, Op. 99” by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco featuring guitarist David Newsam, and Beethoven’s “Symphony 6 in F major, Op. 68.”
“Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” is a symphonic poem for orchestra composed by Claude Debussy in 1894 and it is one of Debussy's most famous works.
The guest soloist, Newsam, is one of New Hampshire’s outstanding guitarists and will perform the famously enchanting “Concerto No. 1 in D minor for Guitar” by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. He is an instructor at Berkeley College of Music, Dartmouth College, and St. Anselm College. Newsam has performed with jazz legends Jim Hall, Bucky Pizzarelli, Dave McKenna, Joe Williams, and other performers including Carol Channing, Dianne Carroll, and The Fifth Dimension.
Tickets are on sale now at LRSO.org.
