LACONIA — Laconia historian Warren D. Huse will open Gilmanton Historical Society’s summer series with a presentation on the Laconia Car Company on Tuesday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m.
From 1848 until 1928, the car company produced thousands of railroad cars, both freight and passenger, and hundreds of trolley and subway cars, mostly for lines on the East Coast.
The program will be held at the Old Town Hall, on Route 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works. The public is welcome. There is no charge, but donations to support the Society’s work are welcome. Social hour and refreshments begin at 7 p.m.
