MEREDITH — The Meredith Public Library will host a presentation on "Introduction to Beekeeping" on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. The popularity of beekeeping has grown with a realization of our dependence on honey bees for successful crop harvests and world-wide concerns for lost species of pollinators. Some look to beekeeping for the rare opportunity it gives us to interact with an intelligent, fascinating insect; but is beekeeping for you? Join in for an overview of what it takes to be a beekeeper in New Hampshire with its short growth season and long winters, features that in today's world may provide an advantage to survival of this ancient marvel of evolution. Presented by Carroll County Adult Education's Athena Contus, who has been raising bees in the Sandwich Mountain Range for 15 years. Athena is a Certified Master Beekeeper and instructor of Carroll Academy's annual fall course: "Modern Beekeeping & The Ancient Honey Bee".
Meredith Public Library is located at 91 Main St.
