GILMANTON — The community is invited to celebrate Earth Day with a fun, hands-on event for all ages on Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gilmanton Year-Round Library.

This family-friendly event will feature interactive activities, outdoor exploration, and practical ideas to help residents save energy, reduce costs, and support a healthier environment. The event is free and open to the public, and families are encouraged to drop in at any time.

Highlights include Earth-themed crafts such as plant markers and handmade gifts perfect for Mother’s Day, seed planting for young gardeners to take home, and children’s environmental story time. Attendees can also enjoy a guided walk along the scenic Beaver Pond Trail behind the library.

Information will be available throughout the event on energy-saving opportunities and simple steps to make homes more efficient and environmentally friendly.

For adults and homeowners interested in deeper energy-saving solutions, a special presentation from Window Dressers will introduce a potential community “barn-raising-style” event in Gilmanton. At this future event, volunteers would work together to build low-cost insulating window inserts that help reduce drafts, improve comfort and lower heating bills.

The event is cohosted by the Gilmanton Energy Committee, Gilmanton Trails Committee, and the Gilmanton Year-Round Library. Light refreshments will be available.
