GILFORD — On Thursday, July 27, at 4 p.m., the French class of the Gilford Public Library will present the film "The Girl Who Wore Freedom" at the library. The story is about the bravery and heroism of the American GIs who came to liberate the French people following the German occupation of Normandy during World War II.
The movie is in French with English subtitles and lasts approximately one and a half hours. Accompanying the showing of the movie will be Joseph Picard, a 98-year-old veteran of the D Day Invasion; he has met the producer of this movie and will share his experience as an American soldier who came to rescue the French.
The event is open to the public.Â
