GILFORD — What was placed inside Gilford High School’s cornerstone in 1975, and what might it reveal about the school’s early days? The community will have an opportunity to find out on Friday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m., when a time capsule sealed in the building’s cornerstone is opened.
The event will offer a rare glimpse into the past, bringing to light a piece of Gilford High School’s history that has remained preserved for more than five decades. A tour of the school will also be offered, providing an opportunity to revisit the building and reflect on its history and evolution.
Anthony Sperazzo, principal of Gilford High School, and members of the Class of 1976 reunion committee invite alumni, former and current staff, and community members to attend this special occasion.
The opening coincides with the 50th reunion of the Gilford High School Class of 1976, the school’s first graduating class. Class members will gather in the Lakes Region for the Gilford-Laconia 50th Class Reunion at the Lake Estate on Winnisquam in Tilton on Saturday evening. The time capsule opening on Friday afternoon will serve as a special prelude to the reunion weekend, connecting the community with the school’s earliest years.
The public is invited to join in this opportunity to uncover a piece of local history and share in the discovery of what was preserved when the school’s cornerstone was laid in 1975.
