TUFTONBORO — A traditional Community Christmas Service to celebrate the season will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Center Tuftonboro, also known as “The Old White Church.”
This annual celebration is a non-denominational service, and all are invited. The service will be conducted by Pastor Kevin Van Brunt, pastor of the Melvin Village Community Church.
The service will be telling the story of Christmas through readings and singing of many familiar carols, led by Van Brunt and local musicians.
The church was built in 1869 and is a surviving example of the many rural churches which dotted the New England landscape in the 19th century, and it remains little changed from its original design. While the Old White Church no longer has an active congregation, it is maintained by a board of trustees and continues to provide a venue for various music and other community events.
