LACONIA — Bipartisan voters’ group Citizens for Belknap, partnering with the League of Women Voters NH, announces a candidate forum for Laconia’s New Hampshire House District 5, which includes wards 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The forum will be held at the Leavitt Parkhouse, 334 Elm St., in Laconia. Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27, giving voters an opportunity to write out their questions and speak with the candidates. The forum begins at 6:30 p.m., and will be recorded for rebroadcast.
The forum will be moderated by former NH Senator Jeanie Forrester of Meredith, who recently moderated a well-received forum there.
Prudy Morin Veysey, Republican co-chair for Citizens for Belknap said the moderator is not associated with the group, and that only residents from District 5 may submit questions.
“Candidates from both parties have been invited, and we hope we have a great turnout of voters who are Republicans, Democrats and undeclared to ask questions which matter to them,” Veysey said.
Hayden McLaughlin, Citizens for Belknap’s Democratic co-chair, said the group has held three forums around Belknap County prior to the primary.
“A vibrant democracy relies on engaged citizens, and your presence and thoughtful questions help make these events successful,” McLaughlin said.
Candidates have already been invited directly and provided guidelines, but are welcome to confirm and seek additional information at C4BChair1@CitizensforBelknap.org, or visit citizensforbelknap.org.
