Beginner knitting lessons start Nov. 28 at the Belknap Mill

LACONIA — The Belknap Mill is pleased to offer two beginner knitting lessons starting Monday, Nov. 28.

Classes will be Mondays, 5-6:30 p.m., or Thursdays, 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m., and run for a 6-week session. Classes will make a sampler scarf using basic patterns. Registration includes start-up materials, and is available by visiting belknapmill.org.

The class will be taught by Beth James. James grew up in the White Mountains and is an eighth generation New Hampshire native. Her grandmother placed her first pair of knitting needles in her hands at age 8.

James started teaching fiber arts 30 years ago. She demonstrated and taught a children's program for the Rochester Fair for 8 years, and spent 20 years educating and demonstrating at Fryeburg Fair Fiber Arts Center. James is a member of the New Hampshire Spinner and Dyers Guild, and brings her passion for textiles to her new position as resident fiber artist at the mill.
