MEREDITH — All ages are invited to celebrate the conclusion of the "Plant A Seed of Democracy" Adult Summer Reading Program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, in the library Function Room. About 350 people have participated in the various America250-themed programs, and over 500 people have participated by taking out books, audiobooks and DVDs since the promotion started in early April.
There will be drawings for prizes in the Adult Summer Reading Raffle, and just for attending this event, opportunities for all attendees to spin the library prize wheel, and an ice cream buffet. Ice cream will be provided by Ben & Jerry's at Mill Falls Marketplace.
The ice cream buffet will consist of assorted flavors, whipped cream, cherries, and toppings. Tables will be set up throughout the room so people can sit down with their ice cream and socialize. Attendees are encouraged to invite friends and meet new ones, as they discuss their favorite ice cream sundae creations.
Friends of the Meredith Public Library are sponsoring this event, so there will be no charge to the public.
