LACONIA — Wescott Law is pleased to announce that attorney Aaron Smith has joined the firm. His practice will focus on family law and divorce, civil litigation and criminal defense, including motor vehicle violations.
“We were fortunate to have Aaron clerk with the firm during his second and third years of law school, which gave us the opportunity to see firsthand his strong work ethic, sound judgment and commitment to the legal profession,” said Sarah Rubury, partner and director. “We are pleased to welcome him to the team as an attorney and look forward to the perspective, dedication and practical experience he’ll bring to the firm and our clients.”
Smith’s path to the legal profession includes experience as an ironworker, law enforcement officer, business owner and member of the New Hampshire Army National Guard, where he serves as a staff sergeant and paralegal specialist, providing legal support in matters involving military justice and administrative law.
He said those experiences have given him a practical perspective that will shape his work with clients.
“I’ve worked with people from every walk of life, often in high-pressure environments, and those experiences taught me the value of clear communication, steady judgment and practical problem-solving,” Smith said. “I approach every client with respect, patience and a commitment to helping them navigate difficult moments with confidence.”
Smith earned his law degree from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he was a member of the Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program. He also served as a teaching assistant for courses including Fundamentals of Law, Pre-Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. In that role, he supported faculty instruction and helped fellow students develop practical legal skills.
“I was drawn to Wescott Law because of its reputation for integrity, community involvement and high-quality legal work,” Smith said. “The firm’s collaborative culture and dedication to client service reflect the values that have guided me throughout my military and professional career. I look forward to contributing to a team that puts people first.”
Smith is now accepting cases involving family law and divorce, civil litigation and criminal defense, including motor vehicle violations.
