PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Rotarians recently gathered to re-erect the sign at Plymouth Rotary Amphitheatre and Riverfront Park — a reminder of the community effort behind this special place beside the Pemigewasset River.
Planning materials from 2009 described a simple vision: reconnect the town to its riverfront. Conceived as Plymouth Rotary’s centennial project, the park would offer a natural setting for concerts, performances, picnics, nonprofit events, and everyday enjoyment, with the river as its backdrop.
That vision brought together a broad range of community interests, including town departments, Plymouth State University, local businesses, arts organizations, recreation groups, and conservation partners. The goal was to create a welcoming place where people could gather and enjoy a beautiful part of Plymouth.
Putting the sign back in place carries that spirit forward. Community service includes both creating something worthwhile and continuing to care for it.
