GILFORD — While it was a long winter the new owner of Beans and Greens Farm, Chris Collias, is proud of the team he has assembled and doesn’t regret the decision to stay open during the winter to maintain a year-round employment opportunity for his staff.
One thing that became apparent is how inclement weather can impact the retail farmstand during the winter season. Collias brought his team together to brainstorm ways to maintain and expand operations.
The solution is a “Farm to Front Door” delivery service that brings Beans and Greens wholesome selection of local produce, New Hampshire raised dairy items, bakery favorites, deli sandwiches, prepared meals and homemade soups direct to its customers.
Collias states “Beans and Greens wants to make it easier for seniors who might live alone or busy families who don’t have time to shop, to utilize the service. Orders can even be purchased in smaller portions such as half sized quiches, individual portion comfort foods, half loaves of bread, pints of orange juice and milk, eggs and bananas by the each and salad kits.”
The service was a success, and Collias plans to continue deliveries year round. The hope is that the convenience factor catches on not only with home deliveries, but also with boaters (“Farm to Dock”) who want to spend a free and easy day on the water.
Collias states, “We don’t rely on Instacart or any other Uber type delivery services. Deliveries are hand-delivered by staff members Wednesday through Saturday. Our weekly offerings can be easily viewed on our website, or for those less tech savvy consumers, they can just call into the store to learn about the homemade specials of the week and to place an order.”
The minimum delivery is $50 and the $5 delivery fee is waived for anyone over the age of 65.
The Beans and Greens team is proud to provide this service to the community. Gift cards are also available for purchase, offering a unique gift for special occasions.
