Werner Horn: ‘Franklin First’ is more than just a catchy political slogan

Representing Franklin in the New Hampshire Statehouse for six years has defined what Franklin First means. Over that time I brought attention to the issues facing Franklin. I brought a $125K grant to Franklin’s school district at the same time as they were losing $160K in adequacy cuts. I brought the commissioner for education to Franklin to showcase why the grant was critically beneficial and I brought WMUR to Franklin to cover the story.

In my last two terms I submitted 30 bills, among them was a bill affecting workers comp claims for firefighters, a bill to cancel a family's debt to the state in the event of their child’s passing, and a bill that recognized the suitability of great-grandparents so children in crisis weren’t separated from their families. Bills that directly come from having talked to Franklin residents about their daily lives.

I graduated from Franklin in 1994, my wife Molly, worked in Franklin for 17 years, and being the district's state representative for six years adds up to a working knowledge of what Franklin needs, Franklin needs state reps. who understand the community, not individuals who only emerge once every two years to recite catchy slogans.
