To The Daily Sun,

Cecil Abels is running for state senate in District 6. As a small business owner, Cecil understands the struggles facing working families and retirees. It’s easy to find what Cecil stands for from his campaign website, his social media, and his many in-person events:

  • Property tax relief
  • Full funding for public schools
  • Adequate healthcare for all
  • Tax relief for small businesses instead of large corporations
  • Protection for our lakes, rivers and forests
  • Energy and utility growth that pays for itself, rather than being passed down to ratepayers

It’s not as easy to find what incumbent Jim Gray stands for. His website is from his 2024 campaign. The issues page is a link to a Foster’s questionnaire from 2022 that mentions his support for the Keystone pipeline and the “current” Biden administration.

According to Citizens Count NH, here are some of the things Jim Gray has voted in favor of: Open enrollment which takes funding from local schools; allowing public college faculty to carry firearms, despite being widely opposed by college students and faculty; government-issued ID to vote ― not student IDs; no-cause evictions at the end of a lease; banning trans athletes; online gambling and Ivermectin.

Here are some things he has voted against: $15 dollar minimum wage; Red Flag Law including reporting mental health conditions for firearm background checks; medical care for trans children; abortion; sanctuary policies for municipalities; and legalized marijuana.

The choice is clear. Please vote for Cecil Abels for state senate on Nov. 3.
