Vinnie Baiocchetti: Vote for Rep. David Nagel in the Nov. 3 General Election

As a lifelong Republican, I believe in electing leaders who demonstrate integrity, common sense and an unwavering commitment to the people they represent; that is why I am voting for Rep. David Nagel for Belknap District 6 state representative.

Rep. Nagel made the difficult decision to leave the Republican Party to run as a Democrat. I understand that crossing the aisle is often a dealbreaker and it usually is for me too, however, he stepped away because he refused to bow to the bullying tactics of party leadership who demanded blind loyalty even when it harmed our community. To me, putting constituents before politics is the ultimate show of conservative character.

His record speaks for itself. For over three decades, he has served as a dedicated physician and a compassionate proponent for sensible healthcare. He has been a deeply invested advocate for our region, living and working alongside us, consistently stepping up to support local civic projects, youth programs and neighbors in need, proving his entire focus is rooted right here at home. For our town, he was the only District 6 representative who attended Gilmanton Selectboard meetings to keep us informed and he always returned our calls and emails when no other representative would.

David Nagel is exactly the kind of independent leader we claim to want, one who votes his conscience, reads the bills and puts his neighbors first. When pressured to fall in line with extreme partisan demands, he chose us instead.

I urge my fellow Republicans to look past the letter next to his name; look at his remarkable record of service and the moral courage he has shown. Please join me in voting for Rep. David Nagel.
