To The Daily Sun,
I submitted a letter a few weeks ago about the crisis at the border and "Spygate." I wrote it hurriedly, not my best letter I suppose, but I thought it had some worthwhile points. I haven't seen it published so I guess they didn't like it at The Sun. Anyhow I'm going to go on about history and the Word of God
I haven't finished with the reasons I have rejected Jared Diamond's simplified view of world history that states Europeans were just lucky to be well-situated geographically. I did watch his documentary. He doesn't deal with the vast resources of the Chinese Empire, the Chinese peoples' superior literacy rate, compared to most of the rest of the world, their poets and artists and that they were poised to be the worlds dominated power on the seas in the earlier part of the 15th century, around the time the Portuguese were discovering Madeira and the Azores.
The Chinese at this time had built over 300 seagoing vessels and were deploying them around the South China Sea, to India and even around the cape of Africa. The king who commissioned this fleet and his lieutenant in charge both died and mysteriously the succeeding king ordered all the ships to be burned. Clearly, without this mysterious decision, the Chinese could have become the dominant culture of the earth. I also remember learning even from junior high school how Charles Martel defeated the Moors at the battle of Tours in 732 AD. Thus the Christian character and influence in Europe was preserved. Otherwise, Europe might have been part of the Islamic empire. The same land area that Jared Diamond works to show that according to his reckoning was the determining factor in European dominance would have been Muslim.
There were also other civilizations that rose to prominence and then declined. For E. Scott Cracraft, a locally celebrated professor of history, to basically do a book report and rubber-stamp Jared Diamond's questionable thesis as the last word on Christendom's rise to world dominance would be malpractice if he were a medical doctor. Jared Diamond seems to be benevolent enough, but he demonstrates little love for the truth — in ignoring relevant events in history that would call into question the conclusion he wanted to come to. E. Scott Cracraft Is a history professor so I'm sure he knows these things I've pointed out. So how do you knowing these things read Jared Diamonds book swallow his thesis whole and still consider yourself a critical thinker?
I'm only a student who is just scratching the surface of the histories of many cultures. From what I can see, every culture I've studied, history is marred by wars and intrigues between various factions. The Europeans were no exception. The difference more than any geological advantage was Christianity. This belief system part of which is that God gave man authority over the earth, the unity of purpose and identity it gave these warring factions, and the blessing bestowed on the descendants of Japheth. That "God enlarge Japheth" and that the descendants of Japheth abided in the tents of Shem, the teachings of Christ, who had the blessing — "Blessed be the Lord God of Shem." (How this blessing of Shem is transmitted is another story in itself) When seen in this light history begins to make sense. You can see God's guiding hand in it. Not that the Europeans were a bunch of choir boys, but they had God's blessing.
The whole progressive doctrine that promotes hate of the white race is really anti-Christian. Christendom, the Europeans, was white. Many cannot fathom that God can bless not according to our righteousness, but according to righteousness in Christ. All men and women are sinners. Many today are not willing to acknowledge their own sin but are quick to point out the sin of others and that of past generations. America has become a very sinful nation. We stand at the precipice of God's judgment. We've been given a window of opportunity to repent. National repentance can only come if individuals repent and turn to God Through Jesus Christ, who is God's Son who gave His life, on the Cross for our sins. History is coming to a close. How will we be seen by God, as His own precious possession, or as His enemy?
