Susan Smith: Which side is actually the one listening to only biased news?

Belated thanks to Dr. David Nagel for his very salient July 5 letter to the editor.

Tropes by MAGA devotees adeptly demonstrate “projection," attributing MAGA behavior on others. They’re too blind to see it’s actually MAGA/Project 2025 that are the current fascist playbook. Unbiased research of history bears the truth. Another example is “leftists” listen to one side and refuse to listen to the truth. Who immerses themselves only in MAGA/FOX based media while naming all non-FOX media as not telling the truth? Who is actually listening to just one side?

Another defensive tactic is deflection. Instead of a cogent response to what’s actually happening, they rehash old misinformation and proven lies, deny what the whole world saw with their own eyes on Jan. 6, and blame everything on the Clintons, Biden, etc. There’s not a rational independent thought expressed. It’s all MAGA/FOX media sound bites.

With the “BBB,” state and county budgets, can MAGA devotees honestly defend:

Elderly, disabled and children losing food assistance; losing access to health care? Closure of rural hospitals, potentially including ours in Laconia?

Not supporting University System of New Hampshire to retain NH’s talented students and recruit nonresidents to build our future workforce?

Stripping away safeguards to keep our air and water safe?

Inhumane treatment of any human being?

Eliminating funding for cancer research, including childhood cancers?

Increasing the national debt over $3 trillion for the benefit of the wealthiest?

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

What kind of world are we leaving for our grandchildren and generations to come? I’m horrified by what’s happening to my beloved country. Saying anyone who isn’t a MAGA devotee hates this country is a disgrace. We’re the ones who truly love our country and want to preserve it. Instead of saying God bless Trump read Matthew 25:31-46 and Ten Commandments.
