Susan Curtis: The Sun should follow its own policies, set example for young people

To The Daily Sun,

Thank you to The Laconia Daily Sun for all the diverse information sharing and enjoyment you provide. You have helped the people of this region to realize the many ways we can be community and help each other. Thank you for the "featured letters policy." It provides a framework for respectful discourse. I would add please ask writers to provide facts that can be checked; for example, claiming inflation to be 20% when it was not. They should just fact check themselves before sending. Many of the letters and some of the opinion articles like Victor David Hanson "Harris was always doomed" have no facts and only name calling and personal attacks which are clearly intended to damage someone's reputation. They are false statements which are hurtful, untrue, unkind and damaging libel. Stick to your policy of not printing these letters and opinions. We do not want our young people learning that this is the way to treat people. Good things happen when people work together to help each other and find constructive solutions. We see these examples every day in The Sun.
