Sheila Kufert: Benjamin Netanyahu does need to address Congress

In rebuttal to Janet Simmon's letter June 29, yes, Benjamin Netanyahu does need to address Congress because so many people are listening to the propaganda coming out of Hamas that drastically exaggerates the numbers of Palestinian casualties. Deaths of innocents are tragedies but the war was started by Hamas when they slaughtered, raped, burned, tortured and kidnapped Israelis from a music festival and their farms. People have to remember that less than 90 years ago, six million Jews were killed and finally 77 years ago, the few survivors returned to their historic homeland and with their wit and strength built a country out of a desert. I don’t think Simmon is an antisemite, especially now I learned from her letter she is even older than I and therefore should understand history. Hamas hides behind civilians and launches their rockets from hospitals, schools and private houses. No Palestinians are starving although the aid trucks that have been delivering food are attacked and looted before they can get to the civilian population and Hamas sells it back to the Palestinians at exorbitant prices. Israelis do not shoot children unless those children are shooting at them. Islamic Jihad culture raises those children to be martyrs and tells them they will go to heaven for killing Jews; as Hamas openly states in its charter its aim to eliminate the only homeland of the Jewish people and murder as many Jews as possible.

Yes, Netanyahu needs to remind the U.S. of the rocket attacks launched by Hamas into southern Israel, and by Hezbollah into northern Israel daily, seldom mentioned on the mainstream media and of the still 116 hostages that need to be brought home, more than 30 believed dead.

At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’ attacks on Oct. 7.
