Robert Sawyer: Supporting Bruce Cheney as next mayor of City of Laconia

To The Daily Sun,

As a former chair of the Laconia Planning Board and Laconia city councilor, I support Bruce Cheney for mayor.

I believe an important qualification for mayor is prior local leadership and service such as a city councilor and/or a major department head. The experience of participating in the operation of city government involves knowledge of the details of what those on the outside haven’t experienced. Bruce has that experience. I don’t believe his opponent has any such experience.

I believe past performance is a good indication of what to expect. Bruce has decades of successful community service ... Laconia police chief, director of New Hampshire Emergency Communication (911) and current Laconia city councilor. Cheney’s decades of experience leads to current knowledge and wisdom. 

As a veteran and watching the world in turmoil, all of us thank Bruce for his service in the United States Marine Corps. Those of us who have “worn the uniform” have a unique seasoned perspective. I urge all veterans to vote for Bruce Cheney for mayor.
