To The Daily Sun,

I want to take the time to thank Patrick Wood, former mayor Andrew Hosmer, as well as every member of the Laconia Human Relations Committee for allowing me to be a part of Laconia's most prestigious and long-standing committee.

In the nearly four years I was on the committee, I was able to learn about the inner workings of our little government here in Laconia. I was able to see that their is life outside of partisan politics.

Without the friendships made and opportunities given to me to at least try and solve issues of today, I probably never would have traveled outside of the Republican echo chamber.

With that said, I want this letter to also reflect that I cannot and will not put myself through an interview meant to prove my worth to this mayor or the city council for re-admission to a committee that has done so much for me, my sanity and my understanding of the world around me. I'm not the only one with zero confidence that members will be treated fairly and the committee won't get turned into a body that is only allowed to facilitate multi cultural events and MLK day celebrations.

I refuse to serve under the new occupier of the mayor's office and the supporters who have been and will continue to pull his strings hoping for some ultra conservative city where only their taxes and opinions matter.

I refuse to be put on the back burner and only used two times a year if those celebrations are even allowed to continue as this bad dream continues on.

Thanks again to everyone involved with the Human Relations Committee. They are all dear friends of mine.
