In new partnership, The Mayhew Program offers a day out on the ice
The Mayhew Program, a nonprofit that mentors at-risk New Hampshire boys to develop ideals of respect, responsibility, and community, is grateful for its community partners. This past Saturday, in Meredith, New Hampshire Fish and Game Guides and volunteers from the Slim Baker Association hosted an ice safety and ice fishing clinic for participants. The event was organized by Mayhew Outreach Worker and NH Fish and Game Volunteer, Jim O'Brien.
The day started off with an ice safety lesson and then the boys learned the proper techniques of setting fish traps. When the boys weren't fishing, they were enjoying playing in the snow, making snow angels, playing football, frisbee, and chess. At the end of the day, they enjoyed some hot chili and smores.
