To The Daily Sun,

On Nov. 5, voters in Meredith have the opportunity for real change. Lynn Thomas, a longtime Meredith resident (as opposed to her opponents), is running for one of two state representative seats serving Meredith (Belknap District 2).

Lynn’s positions set her apart from her opponents on the issues important to Meredith families.

Lynn believes in the basic right of bodily autonomy. She puts her trust in women and if elected will make sure all health care decisions are made between the patient and the doctor and certainly not the legislature or the courts.

Lynn Thomas is a staunch advocate for public education. As such she is opposed to the “Education Freedom Account" (voucher program) which is currently diverting public funds away from public schools and is spending more than four times what was projected. Furthermore, the state cannot or will not account for the spending or the voucher application process.

Lynn Thomas is concerned about the impact of property taxes on families’ budgets. She believes the property tax is regressive and unfairly impacts many in Meredith. As Meredith’s representative, Lynn will work hard to analyze New Hampshire’s and Belknap County’s expenditures, revenue sources, and budget allocations and then consider the fairest forms of revenue generation.

Lynn Thomas cares about families and their children and will increase funding for child care because the quality of our child care is a reflection of how much we value our children.

Related to how much we value our children, Lynn Thomas is sick and tired of children being murdered in our streets and schools. She believes in common sense gun safety laws including background checks, more effective reporting streams, red flag laws and more gun safety education, as do most residents in NH.
