To The Daily Sun,
The election for sheriff in Belknap County has nothing to do about the way the department is run. Sheriff Mike Moyer did a great job as chief in Laconia and has done an equally good job at the Sheriff’s Department. Sgt Bill Wright has always gone above and beyond what has been asked of him. When I was a lieutenant at the Sheriff’s Department, Bill always did his job and never failed to back up any officer in the county when they would possibly need help. Sgt Wright came into work with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Sgt. Wright always wants to help and goes by the motto, do not tell me why we can’t help, lets figure how we can. I still see him from time to time and have never seen him being disparaging towards anyone on the department. Much innuendo has been placed on Moyer, Wright and the Sheriff's Department, but when the final investigation was finished and the report was sent to the County Attorney’s Office, it was the party that instigated this series of events that retired from the Sheriff’s Department. Former Sheriff Dan Collis once placed in the office Edmund Burke's saying: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
When you do a great job your whole career and for no other reason than politics, you are put in a position of not being able to defend yourself, it is shameful and I thought we were better than that in local government. It is time for us good people to step forward and vote for Bill Wright for sheriff.
