Rep. David Nagel: Only way to solve problem is bring varying perspectives together

I would like to thank my friends from Belknap County District 6 for allowing me to serve as their state representative the past two years. I promised to bring sensibility to Concord, and I have been able to do that. By providing the leadership needed to bring diverse groups of stakeholders together, I have been able to successfully address complex social issues.

To address the ambitious list of priorities I created, I have addressed 15 pieces of legislation and I serve on 12 different committees, three as chair and one as vice chair. Please check my website drnagelfornh.com for more information.

My proudest moment came when Gov. Chris Sununu signed SB 561 into law, a medical prior authorization bill that I was the lead author of. Our goal was to decrease the cost of health care, increase its efficiency and access to care by reforming health insurance prior authorization. I believe the only way to solve a problem is to bring individuals with varying perspectives, oftentimes conflicting, together. That is what we did. Over 200 people were involved in the process through town hall and ad hoc committee meetings, as well as one-on-one conversations. Every group was included and involved. In the end, we came to an agreement which nationally the Congressional Budget Office has estimated will save medical offices more than $15 billion. More importantly, it will improve quality of care for all of us and will empower private medical practices of all types.

That is what sensibility in government is all about. That is what voters say they want in their leaders. If that is what readers want, I ask them to join me on my mission and vote for me for New Hampshire state representative for Belknap District 6 on Nov. 5.
