To The Daily Sun,
I was pleased to hear that Deirdre McEachern is running for the NH House, District 6.
Through her writing and community involvement, it is clear that Deirdre believes deeply in public service. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards and actively volunteers with organizations including the Lions Club, the Wentworth Watershed Association, and Festival of Trees, among others.
Deirdre stands for protecting the residents of Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro from rising property taxes, rather than supporting tax cuts for multinational corporations. She understands the importance of properly funding public education instead of pushing to turn all schools into charter schools.
She also recognizes the need for affordable housing and childcare so young people can afford to live in the communities where they grew up. She supports affordable healthcare so no family has to worry about how to pay the bills when illness or injury strikes.
Deirdre has an ideal background for public office. As a former head of school, she understands education. As a successful New Hampshire business owner, she understands economics and taxes. With a degree in conflict resolution, she knows how to bring people together and find practical solutions to difficult problems.
Most importantly, anyone who has worked with Deirdre knows she is positive, professional, and reliable. Her willingness to reach across the aisle and focus on getting things done is exactly what we need in Concord right now.
We need to move beyond partisan politics and elect someone who will truly represent the needs of our towns — including preserving local control. I think that Deirdre McEachern is that person. I will be proud to vote for her on Nov. 3.
