To the Daily Sun:

I found out last week that Weare Rep. Travis Corcoran had been censured in a 288-54 vote in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for his "final solution" social media post, directed at a Jewish legislator. “Good,” I said to my husband. “It’s about time there was some accountability."

Imagine my horror when I found out that one of my state representatives and three other Belknap Delegation members, Reps. Glen Aldrich, Steven Bogert, Paul Terry and Tom Ploszaj, all voted to protect this man from censure. And another 50 statewide.

Before it was hijacked by libertarians and Republicans, the NH GOP would have whipped their caucus to vote to censure this man. I mean, what party would want to be accused of being anti-Jewish, anti-humanity neo-Nazis?

Yes, Rep. Corcoran has his right to free speech. But that speech, and the votes by these four Belknap County representatives who supported it, come with consequences. Corcoran should have been expelled, not just censured. These misguided Belknap state reps who tried to protect him should lose their jobs in November. Real Republicans who choose fiscal responsibility, fairness, common sense, and decency, and who want to take back their party from Free Staters and home-grown libertarian extremists, should register with the secretary of state to run between June 3 and June 12.

Finally, for those of our Belknap County Delegation who showed up for this vote and supported censure for Corcoran, thanks for doing the right thing. They give me hope that there is some moral fiber left in my Republican Party.
